Ellellu Sangeethave...Ellellu Soundaryave...!
(Music Dir : Vijayabhaskar, Lyrics : Chi Udayashankar, Playback : K J Yesudas)
From Album : Malaya Maarutha (Film Music)

Like most people, a good start makes my rest of the day easy and nice to pull through. For me, a good start is humming a few good tracks on my way to office. Depending on how the day went, on the weather, and all other events, my ride back home is musical too.

What kind of Music do I like?
Just about anything. There's no fixed genre or artist or language. It depends on my mood swings. It's Rock when I'm on a high, Ilayaraja when I'm pleasant, AR Rahman when I'm in the mood for the unpredictable, Blues when I just need a musical ambiance while working on something, Indian Classical when I'm spiritual, Hindi Beat/Item numbers when friends visit home for carom board games, and certain specific tracks when I'm lonely, in need of a depressed company.

Actually, I want to list all the Music I've loved all these years. There are thousands, it's impossible to mention and remember all of them. All I can say is Music inspires me, it makes me smile, and sometimes, it brings tears - everything Life's meant to be. Music has made millions of my moments much better on Earth. I'm sure EVERYONE knows what I mean.

By the way, I recommend "Ede thumbi haaduvenu" on Enaadu TV (ETV) Kannada every Sunday at 9PM. I've been watching it for the last 4 Sundays, and those kids sing awesome - it's a great way to wrap up your weekend. On almost every show, there were a couple of renditions which brought out tears - just so touching!

Before I began writing this post, I had a play list of about 30 select tracks and wanted to listen to really nice tracks in a loop. I selected 5, and to my surprise, all of them were from one single movie - Hudugaata!

I can't end this post without mentioning Ilayaraja and AR Rahman. Both have had unparalleled influence on me in my growing years - at School and College, and continue to be. There were days when I went up to the Cassette shop and made friends with that guy - to get information on when the next album would be released. On one instance, I did not buy bus tickets - to and from School - for a few weeks straight, so I could have money to buy a cassette. I miss those days - days we really respected our passion and did anything to get what we wanted.

As a gentleman put it so simply in an ad for WorldSpace, "...there's so much to hear!"

Some nice things other gentlemen/women have said about Music:

~ Victor Hugo

"After silence that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music."
~ Aldous Huxley

“Music is love in search of a word.”
~ Sidonie Gabrielle

"Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."
~ Berthold Auerbach

"Without music life would be a mistake."
~ Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche

"You are the music while the music lasts."
~ T.S. Eliot

"Music is moonlight in the gloomy night of life."
~ Jean Paul Richter
